The good news of Jesus Christ impacts a individual when they repent of their sin and believe that Jesus’s perfect life is sufficient for their righteousness, his death is sufficient for their forgiveness, and his resurrection is their hope in this life and for the life to come.  Responding to the good news transforms an individual through the work of the Holy Spirit and transforms our relationships with others, especially with other Christians in our local church.  God’s plan for our relationships is expressed throughout the entire Bible.
• In King David’s song: “How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1)
• In Jesus’s words to his disciples: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”  (John 13:34)
• In the example of the first Christian church: “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” (Acts 2:42)
In each case, there is a vision of a beautiful community united around the worship of God.  The AspenGrove Fellowship Members’ Covenant is a way to formalize that commitment between members of our local church.
Having been brought by God’s grace to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and having been baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit upon our profession of faith, we do now solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ, relying on God’s gracious enablement.
We will walk together as a church in Christian love, affectionately caring for one another and watching over each other and faithfully admonishing and encouraging one another as circumstances may require. We will rejoice at each other’s happiness and bear each other’s burdens and sorrows with tenderness and sympathy. We will work and pray to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. We will be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay.
We will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together for the regular worship and members meetings of this church. We will pray for one another and this church. We will strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge and holiness; to promote its growth and spirituality; to sustain its worship, witness, ordinances, discipline and doctrines; and to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministries of this church, the expenses of this church, the relief of the poor and the spread of the gospel to all nations.
We will endeavor to bring up all children under our care in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. We will seek the salvation of our family and friends by both a pure and loving example and a verbal witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ .  We will seek to live carefully in the world, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, and remembering that ,as we have been buried by baptism and raised again from the symbolic grave, we also now have special obligation to lead a new and holy life.
We moreover promise that if we move from this place we will unite with another church where we can continue to live with other Christians according to the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
Together, we will trust the Lord to work in us and through us to accomplish what can only be attributed to His power. We shall move forward together in faith, expecting God to do things that only He can do, for the sake of His glory.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen.
